I HAVE BEEN SIMILARLY IN TOUCH WITH CHABAD OF KIEV WHO ASKS FOR DONATIONS AND PRAYERS AS THEY ARE BEING BOMBED. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ONLY WAY TO BECOME A NON JEW WHEN BORN A JEW IS TO PUBLICLY ACCEPT ANOTHER FAITH. WHILE WE PRAY THAT THERE IS PEACE, AND WE HOPE ZELENSKY IS SAFE, HE DOESNT HAVE TO BE CALLED A JEW TO PRAY FOR HIM AND WISH HIM WELL. HE HAS CHOSEN A DIFFERENT FAITH, AND WE STILL WISH HIM WELL.

I am also working with a researcher in Ukraine. He reports from Lviv a couple of days ago:
I am in Lviv now many different institutions are closed, air-alarms, refugees, many people try to cross the border to come to Poland and other countries, the city is generally quiet, but there are intensive battles in and around kyiv, near Kherson, Zaporizzha, Sumy, Kharkiv and in many other places and cities of Ukraine; masses of Russian tanks, aircrafts, helicopters, trucks and soldiers, great losses from both sides and great damages. I think unfortunately even in the best case the fight should be long and bloody.
Out thoughts are will all of them,
G. M.

Ukraine’s Chief Rabbi Yaakov Bleich appealed for donations and prayers late Thursday as members of Kiev’s Jewish community prepared to evacuate the capital.
